On may 7th, I travelled with my family and some friends to Pedras Salgadas, a small village in northern Portugal to attend the CSI 1* of Pedras Salgadas, a show that was very much expected from all the Portuguese riders. I was planning to take my horse to the show but I didn’t have enough time to work him properly at home in time for him to be ready so we decided that this time we would only go to spend some time with our friends and to support them as some of them were competing.
A few years ago, this show was a huge thing but then the riding center got really degraded and there were no more shows until this year. Now, after some hard work, that place is totally new and offers some awesome conditions.
Day 1:
We arrived on Saturday morning, just in time to see my friend M. jumping – he was incredible, during the three days! After his class we had a lovely lunch at the show’s restaurant, it was a small buffet but I truly enjoyed the food. The afternoon was spent watching the Small Grand Prix – fell in love with a mare, what a horse!!! – and then we went to our hotel, Casa Fontes.

Casa Fontes is a family run redecorated hotel with some incredible features: the decoration is really nice, the rooms are very spacious, comfortable, clean and the staff is unique, they will take care of you like family does. João’s mom will cook incredible meals and let me tell you about that breakfast: fresh orange juice, cheese, cold meats, a lovely espresso coffee, a nice plate full of fruit, homemade jams and so on!

Day 2:
On Sunday we woke up early to go to the show, again to see my friend jumping. He was amazing like always.
We spent the rest of the day at the show, watching the classes, visiting booths from some tack stores and talking with our friends.
In the afternoon it started raining a lot so my dad decided that it would be nice to visit Vidago, a small village next to Pedras Salgadas that has a beautiful and very well known palace.
Here are some photos:
